Hi, 🙂
While I get ready to write up lengthy Actual Play stuff from my retreat, check out ICSI, a drill by Joshua “El Fuego” BishopRoby.
I’ve always known I wasn’t the only one in the world to ever grasp the Mother May I concept. Still, when someone else writes something insightful about it, it surprises the hell out of me, and I am left reeling in wonder of how I used to play like this all the time and not know it.
Cheers,
J.
E pensar na quantidade de gente que andava enganada sobre a ICSI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICSI. Sempre viste o futebol? É bom ler-te de volta.
Hey, 🙂
Elora wonders about all those people that were wrong in thinking that ICSI actually means Intracytoplasmic sperm injection. She also welcomes me back, and asks me if I saw the football cup, or the soccer cup, for those of you across the pond.
No, I didn’t. I’m allergic to football/soccer. But thanks for the welcome. 🙂
Cheers,
J.
I may be being obtuse, but can you explain to me how this relates to your Mother May I discussion?
Hi, Jason, 🙂
It doesn’t. This is another topic altogether.
Cheers,
J.
I guess I was confused by your second paragraph, then. It seemed to be drawing a connection between the Mother May I discussion and the thread on Story games.
Hey, 🙂
Ops… Yeah, I guess I see what you’re saying. There is a definite connection between the concept of Mother May I, which talks about purposes behind actions, and ICSI, which puts those very purposes at stake.
ICSI puts the player in a strange and alien place where the motives behind his actions are not under his control. Mother May I play is an equally strange and alien place where the relationship between motives and consequences doesn’t exist.
However, I thought you were asking whether there is any connection between ICSI and the ongoing discussion at Deconstructing Infinity and John Kim’s journal, which seems to be about whether Mother May I actually exists, whether it is a good or bad thing, etc… In that regard, ICSI is another topic altogether.
Sorry about the mixup.
Cheers,
J.
